Day 61: One to Celebrate
We booked an Airbnb for a day off in a great little port town to celebrate our 61st day on the trail. It also happens to coincide with the 40th anniversary of our wedding. That’s the real reason to celebrate. The flat overlooks the river and main square in the fishing village of Luarca.

On the trail we ran into the pilgrim family from Oregon and another pilgrim from Montreal with whom we connected. Conversation always makes the day go faster and even though the walk was long, it seemed to go fast. They all joined us for dinner at a local pizza joint and afterwards we watched a lightning storm from our flat. The short video below doesn’t do it justice.
Saturday the 18th will be a day off from walking and this update as we enjoy our first day off in 20 days.
In previous updates I’ve noted the different Pan (bread) delivery boxes. The first photo below warns pilgrims to not touch. Not every one on the trail is well behaved.
