After over a month in Cornwall and Devon we’ve left behind the beautiful, but often brutal, Southwest Coastal Path. We’re now doing segments of the Cotswolds Way which is located midway between London and Wales.
Much of the path today was through forested paths with only one significant hill—which pales in comparison to the ones we’ve been tackling. Fortunately, we still see charming villages with ancient routes and cute dogs out with their owners. Some canines race ahead and greet us, others amble along behind their owners on arthritic legs. We wish we could borrow one or more for our daily hike.
Afterwards we had time to hang out in the village of Painswick where we explored an exquisite private garden opened to the public as a fundraiser. We ran into the owner who entertained us with stories of how she had to defend the place from squirrels, foxes, and her own dachshunds. We noticed a statue with a cell phone. Evidently the statue is named Frosty and has a horrid monthly bill. It was a pretty amazing garden and she was hilarious.
