There are many great parts of a Camino including the views, the history, and sometimes, the food. But the best part is usually the people. Today we’ve met and talked with people from Spain (Valencia and Madrid), Germany, and Brazil. We even encountered a few from our new home state: Arizona. We share stories and, to the best of our abilities, avoid discussion of politics.
Laurie noted that the cost of traveling has gone way down since we exited Great Britain. A cafe stop with a couple of coffees, a fresh squeezed orange juice, and a pair of pastries, was about three dollars. We spent about $40 for our two bunks tonight. Not as nice as a hotel room, but a comfortable place to sleep and meet fellow pilgrims.
There are a few reminders that we’re not back in the US—like the old style hole for a toilet as in the picture below. Beats digging a hole in the woods.
We also encountered a few amusing dog related graphics. Evidently dog “fouling” is a universal problem as show in the picture on the left. The one on the right warns passersby about their Irish Setter. Maybe they are concerned it will drool them to death? Either way, we didn’t encounter the dangerous beast.
And, a few fun scenes from the trail. One town we passed through is very proud of their bread. Alas, we missed the bakery.
