A Walk in the Park

Laurie and I took what was planned to be a three day backpacking trip on the northeast corner of Mount Rainier National Park earlier this week. Laurie was doing a special Relive video with her aunt in mind. Laurie’s Aunt Mary is on hospice and really loved watching our Relive videos while we were on our 1000 mile camino across France and Spain.

However, the weather was cold and cloudy at altitude, as you can see from the pictures. We opted to skip the second night on the mountain and came home early.

When we got down to cell phone range we got the message that Aunt Mary had passed away the night before. She was a special person and we were both blessed to have her in our lives.

This adventure is dedicated to her.

  1. You guy look great. We loved visiting Mt Rainier while we were living in WA. We never visited the Sunrise area because the road to Sunrise was closed (can’t remember the reason). It’s always sad when we lose someone. In the last 2 weeks we attended two funerals. It’s a hazard of our age. Hope to get out to WA one of these days.
